With over three decades of experience at Hathaway & Kunz, Mr. Thompson focuses his practice primarily in the areas of public finance, commercial lending transactions, contracts, corporate law, and real estate. A passionate supporter of youth sports organizations in Cheyenne, Mr. Thompson has an impressive record of professional leadership in his community.

Mr. Thompson attributes much of the success of his career to the mentorship of former governor and founder of the firm, Stanley K. Hathaway, who instilled in him a commitment to exceptional communication, strong client relationships, and principled judgment. Mr. Thompson’s approach to legal counsel emphasizes investing significant time in listening deeply to clients in order to gain an understanding of their particular needs, and using his talent for creative problem-solving to find a satisfying solution.

Though much of his work is transactional in nature, Mr. Thompson also has substantial experience in litigation, both at the trial and appellate levels. He is licensed to practice before all state and federal courts in the State of Wyoming, as well as the United States 10th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Thompson is listed as bond counsel in the Bond Buyers’ Municipal Marketplace Directory (the “Red Book”). He is also a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association.
