Hathaway & Kunz Serves as Bond Council for Snake River Sporting Club Improvement and Service District

Our firm is proud to have served as bond counsel and disclosure counsel to Snake River Sporting Club Improvement and Service District in the issuance of tax-exempt municipal bonds to finance the replacement of the historic Astoria Bridge that crosses the Snake River and connects that Teton County development to state highway 89. 

The total amount of the bond issue was $17,975,000. Proceeds from the bonds are also being used to improve the roads in the district.

Located in the Snake River Sporting Club Improvement and Service District, the Astoria Bridge crosses the Snake River and serves as the main access to the District property from state highway 89. 

In December of 2022, a truck hit the bridge and caused significant damage. As a result of the damage, loads in excess of 10,000 pounds were restricted from crossing the bridge.

Planned improvements 

The bridge replacement project encompasses a complete replacement of the Astoria Bridge, including:

  • Project oversight and design management
  • A design survey
  • Geotechnical investigation
  • Roadway, intersection, side slope, and drainage design
  • Hydraulic and scour analyses
  • Bridge superstructure design
  • Construction support
  • Construction management
  • Bridge superstructure fabrication and delivery
  • Bridge and approach roadway construction

Work on the bridge replacement project has commenced including design, survey, geotechnical investigation, and construction.
