As an associate attorney with Hathaway & Kunz, Jacob Beckett serves clients across several practice areas, including blockchain, business, and natural resource law.
Originally from Colorado, Jacob has since split time between Wyoming and Colorado, now residing in Denver after more than a decade in Wyoming. After graduating from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy in 2017, Jacob took a gap year to travel throughout Europe. Returning to Laramie in 2018, Jacob began his studies in law. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming with honors in 2021.
Jacob counsels clients through local, state, and federal permitting processes to develop and operate large-scale, multi-parcel projects successfully. Jacob champions this work by working closely with client teams to mitigate risks through proactive strategies and actionable advice. Representative work includes advising an operating project with interests across more than 100 square miles and local real estate and permitting for an energy project exceeding 400MW that incorporates a battery energy storage system. Jacob frequently works with clients in innovative industries to develop equally innovative solutions.
While in law school, Jacob assisted Professor George Mocsary as a Research Assistant, contributing to the development of multiple law review articles, including one on insider trading laws and one on the social-media-driven trading expressed during the GameStop phenomenon. Notably, he also had his own law review article published, advocating for the implementation of a blockchain-enabled voting system in Wyoming.
When away from the office, Jacob enjoys travelling and exploring contemporary art galleries, museums, and nature. An amateur artist himself, Jacob experiments with acrylic paints, plastics, and glass.
