Mike Davis brings more than four decades of distinguished legal and judicial experience to his role as a mediator.
A former Justice of the Wyoming Supreme Court, he is widely respected for his thoughtful decision-making, deep understanding of complex legal issues, and ability to guide parties toward practical and fair resolutions.
Mike served on the Wyoming Supreme Court from 2012 to 2022, including as Chief Justice from 2018 to 2021. During his tenure, he authored over 200 majority opinions, shaping Wyoming law across a broad range of legal issues including those based on civil matters and constitutional questions.
Prior to his service on the Supreme Court, Mike was a District Judge in Wyoming’s First Judicial District and spent nearly three decades in private practice as a civil trial attorney. His practice focused on complex litigation, including medical malpractice, personal injury, government liability, employment disputes, and civil rights claims. Over the course of his career, he tried dozens of jury and bench trials and handled numerous appeals in both state and federal courts.
Mike’s extensive litigation and appellate experience informs his approach to mediation. He understands not only how cases are tried and decided, but also the risks, costs, and uncertainties inherent in litigation. His background allows him to effectively evaluate claims, identify key issues, and help parties realistically assess their positions.
Mike is an Emeritus Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has long been recognized for excellence in the courtroom and contributions to the legal profession. He has also served in numerous professional and judicial leadership roles, including on the Wyoming Board of Professional Responsibility and as an instructor at the University of Wyoming College of Law’s Trial Institute.
As a mediator, Mike’s preparation, patience, and balanced approach are what sets him apart. He works closely with counsel and parties to facilitate meaningful dialogue, narrow disputes, and achieve resolution where possible. His goal is to provide a fair, efficient, and respectful process that allows parties to resolve disputes on terms they can accept.
